Welcome to McMaster Biophotonics

The McMaster Biophotonics Research Group specializes in development of optical spectroscopy and imaging systems for biomedical and environmental applications. Ongoing research projects include: multimodality optical biopsy techniques for real-time clinical diagnosis and guided therapy, optical endoscope designs for gastrointestinal (GI) cancer screening, photodynamic therapy (PDT) photosensitizer uptake and dosimetry, fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM) technologies for high content screening; miniaturized optical sensors for water quality monitoring, and optical sensing and imaging technologies for smart home and aging research.

What's New

May 2019: Morgan and Fares have won the MITACS-JSPS Fellowship for research exchange in Hamamatsu.
May 2019: Michael is awarded CGS scholarship.
March 2019: Jessica won a graduate entrepreneur fellowship, the Judge's choices award, and the Forge student start award in the Forge Student startup contest. Our lab alumni Alex won the 2017 award.
March 2019: Eric and Michael are awarded OGS scholarship.
September 2017-August 2018: Ian and Eric are doing PhD internship at Wescam and Trojan Technologies.
