Biography

Ian Phillips is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Biophotonics group. He received his PhD in Biomedical Engineering in September 2023. His doctoral thesis focused on improving colonoscopy by tracking endoscope motion, visualizing blood vessel structures and characterizing extended field of view cameras. In his research, Ian has used visible and infrared cameras, micro-CT and x-rays.

Ian also collaborates with McMaster's Additive Manufacturing Group. He has provided his experience with optics, image processing and visualization to their multi-disciplinary research.

From September 2017 until August 2018, Ian completed an internship at L3Harris WESCAM working in their Electro-optics Engineering team.

He holds a bachelor's degree (B. Eng.) in Engineering Physics; which he received from from McMaster University in 2014.
