Welcome to our Avenue Support Wiki Page! We have created this wiki in order to make it easier to provide up-to-date support for Avenue and to facilitate your input, feedback and discussion on various support topics. Certain areas of the Wiki will be available in the future to edit (such as the Effective Pedagogical Practices section of each page). For now, we invite you to provide your input into the pedagogical aspects of the system's tools by contacting us through the support form. Each page also has a Discussion area (click on the Discussion tab next to the Article tab at the top of the page) where we invite you to provide comments, suggestions and/or scenarios/uses for the tool that might help others use the tool more effectively.
Avenue to Learn is McMaster University's Learning Management System, or LMS. It provides a secure, online space where instructors can share their learning resources, administer quizzes, conduct online discussions, collect assignment submissions and serve as an online hub for their course. Avenue to Learn is built and hosted by D2L (who call Avenue to Learn “Brightspace”), and has been in place on campus since July 2010. If you have no experience using an LMS, scroll down this page for the section which contains our self-directed study program, which we also use as part of our blended training.
