Please contact Dr. Qiyin Fang regarding current openings.

Undergraduate Students

  • Level 3 (Junior) or higher
  • Major in Engineering, Sciences, Health Sciences, or Life Sciences
  • Summer research: NSERC USRA, GPA >= A- (10/12, 3.5/4, or 80%)
  • Work-Study: McMaster in-study students who qualifies for work-study

Graduate Students

Potential graduate students may have background in one or more of the following areas:

  • Optics and physics
  • Electronics and image/signal processing
  • Biology, biochemistry w/ strong microscopy/tissue culture experiences
  • Tissue optics, microscopy, and other biophotonics research
  • Hands-on experiences in above areas, programming in Matlab, C/C++, and/or LabView

MSc Position in 3D Photoacousting Tomography

We seek a graduate student with strong math, computational, and engineering background. The research project involves developing algorithms and software for image reconstruction from non-contact measurements obtained through photoacousting tomography. Knowledge in image reconstruction methods is desirable. High-performance, and in particular, GPU computing will be deployed. This is part of a larger project “Non-contact photoacoustic tomography for predicting early response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in breast cancer patients” between McMaster University (Hamilton, Ontario) and Western University (London, Ontario).

Interested candidates are encourage to send a CV (by email) to Dr. Q. Fang (qiyin.fang@mcmaster.ca) and Dr. N. Nedialkov (nedialk@mcmaster.ca).

Post Doctoral Fellows

Potential candidates should have strong background in one or more of the following areas:

  • Optical design, spectroscopy, laser physics
  • Image/signal processing
  • Optofluidics
  • Tissue optics, microscopy, and other biophotonics research
