Graduate Students

  • Titre du sujet de thèse proposé/proposed PhD title: Hyperspectral Imaging analysis of skin erythema after radiation therapy

  • A propos de l'INRIA et du poste/context:

This work will be conducted at McMaster with several extended visit (minimum 12 months total) to INRIA-SAM in Sophia Antipolis; through collaborations between the Ayin research team and the McMaster Biophotonics Research group.
This position will be considered a contutelle PhD between McMaster University and Université Nice.

Both teams have got close collaborations with industries such as Galderma in Sophia Antipolis, and the Juravinski Cancer Center in Hamilton.

  • Profil recherché/Student profile: the ideal candidate should have the following qualifications:
  1. undergraduate and master’s degree in related disciplines in engineering or science
  2. basic skills in understanding and use of statistical and applied mathematical tools (statistical analysis of time series and multidimensional data, stochastic models such as Markov random fields, point processes…) and imaging processing;
  3. a good knowledge of programming languages, Matlab and C in particular;
  4. knowledge of optical imaging systems;
  5. a good English communication skills;
  6. French is not necessary, but will be appreciated.

Undergraduate Students

  • Level 3 (Junior) or higher
  • Major in Engineering, Sciences, Health Sciences, or Life Sciences
  • Summer research: NSERC USRA, GPA >= A- (10/12, 3.5/4, or 80%)
  • Work-Study: McMaster in-study students who qualifies for work-study

Post Doctoral Fellows

A postdoctoral fellowship position is available immediately upon filled. This fellow will work with graduate students in McMaster and Sunnybrook Research Institute as well as close interactions with engineers with our industrial partners. Specifically, the fellow will develop and optimize a modular streak camera based FLIM system. This candidate should be eligible for both Accelerate and the Elevate of the MITACS program.

Required qualifications:

  • RQ1. a recent PhD graduate in Optical Engineering/Physics/EE/ or related disciplines;
  • RQ2. experiences in instrument interfacing and computerized control;
  • RQ3. experienced programmer in C/C++;
  • RQ4. experiences in optical design using Zemax (or Code V/OSLO);
  • RQ5. strong communication skills in English;

Desired qualification:

  • DQ1. Direct experiences in building FLIM or time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy systems;
  • DQ2. hands-on experiences in subnanosecond photo detection systems;
  • DQ3. working knowledge of fluorescence microscopy and cellular imaging;
  • DQ4. experienced programer in Matlab for imaging processing and analysis;
