Varun Jain

Varun Jain is a BHSc. candidate in his fourth year at McMaster University studying Health, Engineering Science, and Entrepreneurship. His biophotonics research focuses on creating a clinical standardized pain assessment tool for monitoring pain in elderly individuals using EMGs and accelerometers. Varun's industry experience includes a co-op internship at Trainer+ working in back-end software development beginning May 2019. Outside of research, Varun has worked numerous teaching assistantships for courses such as PHYSICS 1D03 / 1E03, HTHSCI 1I06, and IBEHS 4C03.

Working on a feasibility study to assess the added value of an Integrated Musculoskeletal BioFeedback Device (IMBED) combined with neuromuscular exercise and education (GLA-DTM) to decrease chronic pain in older adults with osteoarthritis. The device will integrate digital pain mapping, EMG biofeedback, and 3D motion tracking within a mobile application for clinical assessment and remote access over time.
