How do I export my grade book on Avenue for submission to Registrar’s?
At the end of the semester you will want to export your grades from your course on Avenue and prepare it for submission to the Registrar as your final grades. This document will guide you through the process of preparing this CSV file as it is exported from Avenue to what the Online Grade Collection site wants. This document will not cover the process of uploading your Online Grade Collection, which is covered here: http://www.mcmaster.ca/uts/online_grades/index.html
From within the course in Avenue that you want to collect grades for export, choose Assessments and in the drop down menu select Grades.
Make sure you are in theEnter Grades menu and select Export.
On the Export Grades page, you will want to consider your options when exporting key fields. You will want BothOrg Defined ID and Username exported. For most students, the Org Defined ID is their student number (in specific cases, some students may have their MacID
as their Org Defined ID). The Username is always the student’s MacID. Under User Details, you may want to add the First Name and the Last Name to the export as well. This will help you differentiate similar MacIDs, but the names are not needed for the Import process.
When you are choosing which grades to select for exporting, the only one you will need isFinal Calculated Grade. If you are using an Adjusted Grade, you could choose to export that one instead, however any changes you wish to make to a previously calculated grade can occur after the export has happened. An example of how a typical export might look follows.
