Diabetes Mellitus is one of the major spread diseases around the world. It is the fourth cause of death by disease around the world. From the most important issues in dealing with such disease is the continuous and accurate monitoring of glucose level change to be aware of the disease state. The motivation of this work is to offer an enhancement step of early detection of the syndromes of diabetes disease which is the change of the rate of glucose concentration, which directs our efforts to use the laser as an optical source and as a good tool for measuring optical properties of tissues because of its special characteristics of high coherency and its avoidance of the ionization effects of the other imaging systems like X-ray. An optical system is setup, interfaced with the computer, applying a developed algorithm to contribute in enhancing the resolution power of detection of the glucose concentration level through a system of tissue optical properties measurement. In addition to the start of an experiment for pattern recognition of two different materials doped in one solution is also accomplished by this work. In the current state research is concerning with the design and implementation of Laser Imaging System for target identification. Phase one is the detailed study of the target modeling and simulation from all aspects of concern, accurate selection of optical imaging system. Experimental work commences after system realization. The second phase is related to the data analysis through algorithm development (Digital Signal Processing, Image processing, and Pattern recognition) of the experimental output data. The contribution of this work is to achieve development and enhancement of non-invasive imaging technique. \\ === Schedule === [[2014 Winter Plans]] ^ Time ^ Monday ^ Tuesday ^ Wednesday ^ Thursday ^ Friday ^ | 8:30 - 9:30 | campus | campus | campus | campus | campus | | 9:30 - 10:30 | campus | campus | campus | campus | campus | | 10:30 - 11:30 | campus | campus | campus | campus | campus | | 11:30 - 12:30 | campus | campus | campus | campus | campus | | 12:30 - 13:30 | campus | EP 6I03 | campus | campus | EP 6I03 | | 13:30 - 14:30 | campus | campus | campus | campus | EP 6I03 | | 14:30 - 15:30 | campus | BME 706 | campus | BME 706 | campus | | 15:30 - 16:30 | campus | BME 706 | campus | BME 706 | campus | | 16:30 - 17:30 | campus | BME 706 | campus | BME 706 | campus | \\ \\ ===Conference Papers=== 1- Determination of Glucose Concentration using Optical Coherence Tomography”, The 13th ASAT International Conference, Military Technical College, May 26-28, 2009. 2- Pattern Recognition for Alternative Concentrations of NaCl and Glucose Doped Solutions using Optical Coherence Tomography”, The 5th International Conference (ICEMP-5), Military Technical College, May 25-27, 2010 Possible future courses: ^Course ^Description ^ 2014/2015 ^ |COMP ENG 6TN4 |Image Processing | Term 2 | |ENG PHYS 726 |Optoelectronic Device Physics | Term 2 | \\ ===Safety Training=== ^Base Courses ^ ^Additional Courses^^ ^ Course ^ Date ^Course ^ Date^ |WHMIS |Dec.2013|Slips and Trips |Dec.2013| |Fire Safety |Dec.2013|Ergonomics |Dec.2013| |LASER Safety |Jan.2014|Basic Electrical safety |Jan.2014| |Hazard Awareness |Jan.2014| Asbestosis |Jan.2014| ===Related Links===
